Kaylee's Birthday Party...

About two months ago Kaylee told me that for her birthday she wanted to have a make over party where her and her friends could get there hair, nails and makeup done. So I started looking for places in San Diego that did parties like this for little girls. I found a cute place that did this, but the cheapest birthday package was $550, so needless to say we didn't go to that place. I decided we would just make our own place.

So today was the big day. Since her birthday is right after Christmas we usually wait until the first week or two of January to have her party, that way she can invite her friends from school and everyone is back from vacation by then. We decided to have the party at the Bonita church building since is the closest one to her school and easy for her school friends to find.

I got a group of my friends together to help me turn the cultural hall into a mini beauty shop. The girls had a really fun time. The only downside of the day is that Kaylee woke up pretty sick this morning. She rested on the couch in the church while we set up. She got up when her friends got there, but as soon as they left she went right back to the couch. Poor girl, I felt really bad for her.


So the big event started with a little lunch. Kaylee designed the menu by herself. She said she wanted finger sandwiches (pb&J, tuna, and egg salad), cookies, fruit (strawberries, grapes, and oranges), carrots, cheese cubes, and pink lemon aid. So before the makeovers began the girls enjoyed their lunch.

Then it was time for the fun stuff. We had three stations set up that the girls rotated around. Here is Courtney and Kyle at the 'hair station'. Ashley and Erica did the hair and they did an AMAZING job.

The next station was the 'make up' station. Here is Kaylee getting her make up done. Hayley and two of her friends from high school came to do the make up. They did a great job and it was really nice of them to give up their Saturday afternoon to come help out with a 7 year olds birthday party.

The last station was 'nail station'. Paty and Stevie did all the nails. They did such good, and detailed job. They put jewels and glitter on every girls nails. Here is Bella getting her nails done.

While the girls waited in between stations we had a little waiting area set up for the girls, equipped with magazines just like in a real salon.

After the girls we done with their makeovers we had a photo studio set up for the girls to get their pictures done, which we printed out and framed to go with their goodie bags as a souvenir of this special day. I forgot to take pictures of the girls getting their individual pictures done, but here is one of my three girls getting one done.

Instead of a cake Kaylee decided she wanted cup cakes. But again I forgot to take pictures of that. So finally it was present time. She got a lot of good things that she can not wait to play with.

All the girls seemed to have a really good time. I over heard one of the girls telling Kaylee, "this is the bestest party ever." Kaylee told me it was just what she wanted, so that is all that matters. I am glad she had fun even if she wasn't feeling well. I love you Kaylee!!!
