After spending a couple days in Hawaii with dad it was time for them to get
on board the USS Abraham Lincoln for their five day journey back to San Diego. It was a great experience for Kaylee to see some of the things her dad does while he is gone and get a better understanding for what life is like for him out there. I think this will make it a little easier on her next time he deploys (which unfortunately will be sooner than I would like). They had over 1100 "tiger cruise people" (that is what they call the people who come out to meet their sailor and ride the ship back) on the ship and they had many fun activities for them. They had many tours, air shows, movie nights, karaoke, bingo, etc... This is something Kaylee will never forget. Here she is standing next to a jet.
As the ship pulls out she says goodbye to Hawaii. That is
Pearl harbor behind her and the Arizona memorial.
There we tons of kids
on board so Kaylee quickly made friends. These two girls were her best friends
on board,
Melena and Megan, the three of them were
inseparable most of the time. Here they are at one of the air shows.
Had to get some pictures of the rescue swimmer coming down.
She got to take a tour of the "bridge" where the
captain sits and drives the boat.
Hanging out in dad's shop watching a movie while he does some work.

They had a ship come up to refuel them which was a cool thing for her to see.

Melena (it makes me nervous that there is not a railing behind her as she is about 70 feet above the water, but Nick assures me that there are big cargo nets below that would have caught her if she fell)
Nick was so excited to have his little girls
on board with him, he was like a kid in a candy store.
They were constantly busy with so many activities that as soon as they would get a little down time so Kaylee could work on her homework she would just crash out.

She got to have ice cream every day which was very exciting for her since we rarely have ice cream at home.
It sounds like she had a great trip and I glad that we decided to send her out there.
