The USS Midway...

Courtney's class took a field trip to the USS Midway (an air craft carrier that is now a museum) and I was able to work it out so I could go with her. It was really fun. It was really good for Courtney to go there and kinda see what it is like for her dad while he is gone. She kept asking me the whole time, "Is this how it is on dad's ship?" Her favorite thing to see was the brig (the jail) and where all the sailors sleep.

They started by learning about measuring and how because there is not a lot of storage space on the ship they have to know the sizes of everything so they can utilize every inch of space they can.

They each got a few boxes that they had to measure.

Then we went on a scavenger hunt around the hanger bay measuring different things.

Up on the flight deck all the kids were able to get inside of one of the big air plains.

Every time she saw a bed she wanted to climb in and try it out. She was amazed at how small they are and wondered how her dad could fit on these beds.

We had to lock a few of these kids behind bars. :)

After we were done touring the ship we met back up as a group and headed back to the bus.

She said this was "the best field trip ever!"
