Who knew there was a farm in National City...

Courtney's class had their last Field trip of the school year today. They went to Stein Farm in National City. I didn't even know there was a farm in National City. For some reason Courtney's class seems to always have a rough start when it comes to Field trips. (Last month when they went to the zoo the bus forgot to come pick them up and they were and hour and a half late) This was no exception. We all met at the farm and were supposed to go in at 8:15. But when we got there there was nobody there. Courtney's teacher got right on the phone and started making calls to find out what was going on. Finally at almost 9:00am just as we were about to leave the farm worker finally got there and said that she had no record that we were supposed to be there today. After checking threw her notebook she found out that indeed we were supposed to be there and she felt bad. Once inside everything was fine. They showed us around the property and taught the kids all about how the farm was ran 100 years ago when Mr and Mrs Stein started it. They also let the kids each plant some seeds and take home their plant to grow. (Ours only made it about 10 minutes in the car before Courtney spilled most of it on the floor. So we had to make a stop at the car wash) Before we left they took the kids inside the house were Mr and Mrs Stein live, which is now a museum. It was pretty interesting to see the way things were 100 years ago. Courtney and her friends all had a good time. So if you ever find yourselves with nothing to do one Saturday go check it out, its on F St.

The kids were not very happy that there was nobody there and we were going to have to leave.

Once inside everyone seemed much happier. Here she was showing them all the different things they grow there at the farm.

They raise earthworms in these tires. She let any of the kids who were interested hold some of the earthworms. Courtney wanted nothing to do with touching a worm.

Here she is filling her pot with the soil that would later cover my car.

She was excited to plant her little seeds.

Nosey little Brooklyn stayed awake the whole time we were there. She just looked around the whole time soaking everything in. She is always afraid of missing out on anything. She did crash out as soon as we got in the car though. All that farming really tired her out.
