Goodbye 1st Grade...

Yesterday was Kaylee's last day of 1st grade. For the past couple of weeks all she could talk about was becoming a 2nd grader. She couldn't wait to be in 2nd grade. Suddenly all that changed yesterday while she was getting ready for school. I made the mistake of pointing out to her that this was her last day of 1st grade before she became a big 2nd grader. She instantly burst into tears saying that she didn't want 1st grade to be over, she was pretty upset about the whole thing. After calming her down and sending her off to school, she was in a much better mood about the whole thing when I picked her up.

On Wednesday her class had an end of the year party in the class room. They did a beach theme party so they were all aloud to wear their beach clothes to school. They pushed all the desks out of the way and spread out beach towels and chairs all over the floor. The kids were also aloud to bring in games to play and share. It was a really fun idea.

Kaylee and her friend started tossing the beach ball back and forth. I don't know if you can see in the background, but she really wanted the girls to pass the ball to her.

When they wouldn't she decided to just pick up the closest book and read a little bit.

For the lunch the teacher had ordered a bunch of pizzas and some of the parents brought in some snacks. The kids thought it was pretty fun to eat lunch on towels in the classroom instead of in the cafeteria.

While they were eating lunch I had to leave to go take Courtney to school so we missed the rest of the days activities. Kaylee told me all about them when I picked her up though. After lunch they went outside and played some water activities. Later they had Popsicles. The best part of the day in Kaylee's words, "we didn't even have to do any school work today!" No wonder she is going to miss 1st grade.
